The centre-piece of the Jewel comprises of a enamel plaque which comprises of a picture of the Roman goddess Minerva, who was goddess of amongst other things, wisdom.
Above the plaque is the name of the Lodge "Minerva Lodge No. 214 I.C.",
separated by a single shamrock.
Short History of Warrant No. 214.
Warrant No. 214 issued to brethren in DUBLIN, on the 7th November, 1750. The Warrant was cancelled on the 24th June, 1806.
Warrant No. 214 was reissued by Alexander Seton on the 27th December, 1806 to MAGHERDROLL, (i.e. Maghadrool) or BALLYNAHINCH, County Down [but not confirmed by Grand Lodge.] As a "Seton" Warrant No. 214 worked up to the 6th December, 1809.

Warrant No. 214 reissued to brethren to form `Hibernia Lodge' in HILLSBOROUGH, County Down on the 2nd July, 1818, in lieu of Warrant No. 963. Warrant No. 214 was Sent in, 21st July, 1848.
Warrant No. 214 reissued to brethren to form `St. Domangard Lodge' in NEWCASTLE, County Down on the 10th March, 1897 and was Surrendered on the 3rd March, 1904.
Warrant No. 214 reissued to brethren in SELUKWE, Matabeleland, South Africa, 11th October, 1909 and was Surrendered on the 7th June, 1923.

History of Minerva Lodge No. 214.
The Minutes of the Grand Lodge Board of General Purposes dated 4th June 1923 show concerning Warrant No. 214 -
"4 June, 1923 - Read Memorial from various Brethren praying for a warrant to establish a Lodge in Dublin in the County of Dublin to be called the Minerva. – Recommended"
The Recommendation of The Board was followed, as is shown in the Grand Lodge Minutes of 7th June 1923 as "Confirmed"
Warrant No. 214 reissued to `Minerva Lodge' in FREEMASONS HALL, MOLESWORTH STREET, DUBLIN on the 8th June, 1923.
Series four Vol. 13 of the extant Grand Lodge Registers shows -
"Re-issued Warrant No. 214 to Dublin as “Minerva Lodge” 8 June, 1923 - Thomas Boyle, Ironmonger (93); Selig Dundon, Tailor (167) and Benjamin L. Braid, Sales Manager (426) registered along with thirteen others from various lodges, 8 June, 1923."
Thomas Boyle was the first Worshipful Master, Selig Dundon the Senior Warden and Benjamin L. Braid the Junior Warden.
Minerva Lodge No. 214 has a particularly fine Past Master's Chain made of Silver which rests on a blue collar, the centre piece of which is a painted enamel portrait of Thomas Boyle the said first Worshipful Master.
A further six brethren registered up to 24th October, 1923. In all cases the dates when the issue of certificates is shown, together with the occupation of the brother.

"1 October, 1923 – Read letter from Lodge 214 submitting design of Founder’s Jewel and Badge for Apron. Approved." [This is the jewel above]
Series five Vol. 18 shown as Vol. 2 of the extant Grand Lodge Register commences with the registration of David S. Mullen, Comm. Rep., registered 18th March, 1924.
A total of 92 brethren registered up to 16th October, 1952. In most cases the dates when the issue of certificates is shown, together with the occupation of the brother.
Series six Vol. 21 of the extant Grand Lodge Register commences with the registration of B. F., Dental Surgeon, registered 19th May, 1953. The said B.F. is currently [2008] still an Emeritus Member of Minerva Lodge No. 214
A total of 51 brethren registered up to 21st February, 1984. In most cases the dates when the issue of certificates is shown, together with the occupation of the brother.
From 1984 the registration of members of Minerva Lodge No. 214 is held, in alphabetical order, in a computerised register by Grand Lodge, Freemasons’ Hall, 17 Molesworth Street, Dublin 2. The Registration of the Worshipful Master, Wardens and Secretary of Lodges are held in separate Registers, the first Volume covering the period 1983 to 1994 inclusive and the second Volume covering from 1995 to date.
Minerva Lodge No. 214 surrendered its Warrant to Grand Lodge in October 2011 having Laboured, on and off, for some 261 years.
