Short History of Warrant No. 499.
Warrant No. 499 issued to brethren in DUNDROD, Lisburn, Co. Antrim on the 1st April, 1773.Warrant No. 499 was Cancelled on the 6th February, 1845 for non-payment of dues.

History of Ormeau Lodge no. 499.
The Minutes of the Grand Lodge Board of General Purposes dated 31st January, 1921 show concerning Warrant No. 499 -
"31 January, 1921 - Read Memorial from various Brethren praying for a warrant to establish a Lodge in Mountpottinger in the County of Down to be called the Ormeau. – Recommended"
The Recommendation of The Board was followed,as is shown in the Grand Lodge Minutes of 3rd March, 1921 as "Confirmed"
Warrant No. 499 reissued to John McK. Gray, Frank Smith and Francis Toole to form `Ormeau Lodge' in the Mount Masonic Hall, MOUNTPOTTINGER, BELFAST, on the 12th March, 1921.
Series four Vol. 16 shown as Volume 4a of the extant Grand Lodge Registers shows:-
"Warrant No. 499 to Mountpottinger as “Ormeau Lodge”, 12 March, 1921- John McK. Gray, Manager (978); Frank Smith, Tile Layer (978) and Francis Toole, Furniture Manufacturer (303) registered along with ten others from various lodges, one marked “did not join”, 12 March, 1921."
The Minutes of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Down dated the 17th May 1921show concerning the Constitution of Ormeau Lodge No. 499 -
"The Mount, Belfast, 17th May, 1921.
An Occasional Meeting of the Right Worshipful The Grand Lodge of the Province of Down was held at 107 The Mount, Belfast, on the above date at 5 o’clock p.m., for the purpose of Constituting the ‘The Ormeau’ Masonic Lodge No. 499
The Grand Lodge was opened on the First Degree and was officered as follows:-

The Roll was called and the attendance’s and apologies of Provincial Grand Lodge Officers recorded.
The notice convening the Meeting was read.
The Ceremony of Constitution was carried through by the Grand Master and Provincial Grand Lodge Officers and the ‘Ormeau Masonic Lodge No. 499’ was declared to be at labour.
The Worshipful Master and Officers of the Lodge were then installed and saluted.
The Grand Master in a short address to the members of the Lodge impresses upon them the fact that they must exercise much care in the selection of new members for their Lodge as it was only in this manner they would be able to have a satisfactory Lodge.
On the motion of the Worshipful Master a hearty vote of thanks was proposed to the Grand Master and Officers.
The Lodge was then closed in Peace Love and Harmony.
The brethren of the Lodge afterwards entertained the Provincial Grand Lodge Officers.

A total of 72 brethren registered up to 31st May 1923. In most cases the dates when the issue of certificates is shown, together with the occupation of the brother.
Series five Vol. 19 shown as Vol. 3 of the extant Grand Lodge Register commences with the registration of William J. Mortland, Mech. Driver, registered 3rd March 1924.
A total of 79 brethren registered up to 4th June 1951. In most cases the dates when the issue of certificates is shown, together with the occupation of the brother.
Series six Vol. 22 of the extant Grand Lodge Register commences with the registration of Stewart C. Vance, Teacher, registered 2nd April 1953.
A total of 41 brethren registered up to 3rd May 1983. In most cases the dates when the issue of certificates is shown, together with the occupation of the brother.
From 1984 the registration of members of ORMEAU LODGE NO. 499 is held, in alphabetical order, in a computerised register by Grand Lodge, Freemasons’ Hall, 17 Molesworth Street, Dublin 2. The Registration of the Worshipful Master, Wardens and Secretary of Lodges are held in separate Registers, the first Volume covering the period 1983 to 1994 inclusive.
The Minutes of Grand Lodge dated 3rd December 1987 notes the return of Warrant No. 499.
